Let’s Finish the Job

My first time running for elected office was four years ago when I was elected as the first Republican Outsider to hold the Sheriff’s office in more than 40 years. I’m not a product of the local political system. Never have been. Never will be.

I’m running for re-election to finish the job I started: To modernize and professionalize the Sheriff’s Department. Our team accomplished a lot in our first term, and county crime levels continue to fall.

This year will be pivotal as we work our plan for the soon-to-be-completed new jail. We’ll continue streamlining jail operations and consolidating staff in preparation for falling county tax revenues anticipated for 2027.

I believe we should fund law enforcement adequately, which is why I will continue urging the County Council to prioritize Public Safety. We can’t afford to lose trained jail staff and experienced merit deputies to nearby cities and counties paying more. As Public Safety costs are expected to rise, I’ll continue fighting for employee pay that keeps our compensation levels as competitive as possible.
